COMING UP @TRINE It may be cold outside, but campus activities are heating up at Trine! Check out the following upcoming events: Humanities Symposia Storyteller Lou Ann Homan and bagpiper Mark Gropp open the spring Humanities Symposia with a celebration of poet Robert Burns at 3:30 p.m. Jan. 28 in Wells Theater inside Taylor Hall. Free and open to the public. Love, Mom and Dad Jim and Evelyn Piazza and Stephen and Rae Ann Gruver, whose sons died in hazing incidents, will speak on the dangers of hazing and alcohol abuse beginning at 7 p.m. Jan. 29 in the T. Furth Center for Performing Arts. Free and open to the public. Chinese New Year Enjoy a special dinner in Whitney Commons from 5-6:30 p.m. Jan. 24, followed by fireworks. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Themed "Unity is Our Greatest Strength," the annual celebration, beginning at 7 p.m. Feb. 7, features award-winning speaker, university professor and author Joe Martin, Ed.D., as well as the Union Baptist Church Mass Choir of Fort Wayne and Chris Ford and Sounds of Redemption. Free and open to the public. 17th Annual Scholarship Gala Beginning at 6 p.m. Feb. 8 in the ARC, the Gala offers live music, amazing food and beverages and live and silent auctions as well as a keynote by IU and NBA legend Isiah Thomas, all supporting scholarships for Trine students. Tickets are $100 each, available at trine.edu/gala Hockey Night in Angola The Trine men's NCAA team takes on Marian (Wisconsin) at 7 p.m. Jan. 24 and 5 p.m. Jan. 25. The women's team hosts Aurora at 7 p.m. Jan. 31 and 7 p.m. Feb. 1. Tickets range from $5-515 per game. Basketball Thunder men's basketball tips off against Albion at 3 p.m. Jan. 25, and the women face Calvin at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 29 and Alma at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 6. Tickets are $7 general admission, $3 for senior citizens and children under 18. Men's Volleyball Catch Thunder men's volleyball in action against Thiel at 8 p.m. Jan. 24, Concordia Wisconsin at 1 p.m. Jan. 25, St. Norbert at 11 a.m. Feb. 1 and Trinity Christian at 3 p.m. Feb. 1. Tickets are $5 general admission, $3 for senior citizens and children under 12. Open Skate Get on the ice at the Thunder Ice Arena from 5:45-7:45 p.m. every Wednesday and 4:45-6:45 p.m. every Sunday. Cost is $6, with skate rental available for $3. Brunch by Bon Appetit Join us in the award-winning Whitney Commons Café for an all-you-can eat brunch, including a carving station, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday. Cost is $11.20 for adults and $5.59 for ages 5-12.
