COMING UP @TRINE From competitions to celebrations, check out these upcoming events at Trine University: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Themed "Unity is Our Greatest Strength," the annual celebration, beginning at 7 p.m. Feb. 7 in the T. Furth Center for Performing Arts, features award-winning speaker, university professor and author Joe Martin, Ed.D., as well as the Union Baptist Church Mass Choir of Fort Wayne and Chris Ford and Sounds of Redemption, Free and open to the public. Big Man on Campus Ten men will vie for the title of Big Man on Campus in this annual breast cancer fundraiser, beginning at 8 p.m. Feb. 14 in the T. Furth Center for Performing Arts. Free and open to the public. Innovation Challenge Listen to pitches and cast your vote for the best new ideas in business and technology. High schools compete Feb. 19 beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the T. Furth Center for Performing Arts, with business awards at noon and technology awards at 2 p.m. Campus and community pitches begin at 9:30 a.m. Feb. 21 in the T. Furth Center for Performing Arts, with business awards at 11:40 a.m. and technology awards at 2 p.m. Free and open to the public. Center for Sports Studies Trine University will launch its new Center for Sports Studies at 9:45 a.m. Feb. 20 in the T. Furth Center for Performing Arts. Tim Bawmann, president of the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, will serve as keynote speaker. Free and open to the public. Hockey Night in Angola The Trine men's NCAA team takes on Adrian at 7 p.m. Feb. 14 and 15. Tickets range from $5-515 per game. Basketball Thunder men's basketball tips off against Adrian at 3 p.m. Feb. 8 and Calvin at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 12. The women face Adrian at 3 p.m. Feb. 15 and Kalamazoo at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 19. Tickets are $7 general admission, $3 for senior citizens and children under 18. Men's Volleyball Catch Thunder men's volleyball in action against Indiana Tech and Hiram, beginning at 9 a.m. Feb. 15. Tickets are $5 general admission, $3 for senior citizens and children under 12. Men's Lacrosse Outdoor sports return as the Thunder open their season by hosting Anderson beginning at 4 p.m. Feb. 19. Open Skate Get on the ice at the Thunder Ice Arena from 5:45-7:45 p.m. every Wednesday and 4:45-6:45 p.m. every Sunday. Cost is $6, with skate rental available for $3. Brunch by Bon Appetit Join us in the award-winning Whitney Commons Café for an all-you-can eat brunch, including a carving station, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday.
