Carolyn Foley is a DeKalb County native and lifelong resident who has dedicated her career of over three decades to public service. With her rich background in prosecuting and presiding over criminal and civil cases alike, Carolyn is the ideal candidate. She promises to bring her fair and balanced approach to the office, and serve the residents of DeKalb County with honor, courage, and integrity. PERSONAL: -DeKalb County native and Auburn resident -Married to Rick Dye for 29 years -Mother of 3, all DeKalb High School graduates -Member of Dayspring Community Church VOLUNTEER WORK: -Community volunteer for over 40 years (ACD festival, DeKalb Fair, Family Shelter, Dayspring Community Church, Eckhart Public Library and Eckhart Library Foundation) -Former President of the Eckhart Public Library Board of Trustees and of the Eckhart Library Foundation & current Vice-President of the Eckhart Library Foundation -Instrumental in the restoration of Eckhart Public Library following the 2017 arson -Secretary of the Dayspring Community Church Leadership Advisory Board EDUCATION: -Graduate of DeKalb High School -Earned BA in sociology & criminal justice from Indiana University -Earned JD from Indiana University McKinney School of Law PROFESSIONAL WORK: *14 years as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney -Handled hundreds of jury & bench trials for misdemeanor & felony offenses & thousands of Title IV-D child support cases -Supervised & trained deputy prosecuting attorneys *17 years as a judicial officer, serving as juvenile referee & magistrate -Presided over hundreds of hearings & trials for delinquency, status, paternity, domestic relations, protective orders & Special Judge cases *4 years as Chief Juvenile Probation Officer & juvenile referee for Allen County -Supervised staffs of the probation department & Wood Youth Center -Assisted in design of Allen County Juvenile Center *25 years as an educator/trainer of probation officers, law enforcement officers, lawyers, magistrates & judges at the local & state level
