UTILITY SERVICE BOARD Ensuring Continued Innovation The City of Auburn's history has been shaped by innovation. It's that innovation which fueled the original vision for municipally-owned and -operated utilities to support a booming automotive industry more than a century ago. That same stewardship and ingenuity created a best-in-class multi-service broadband utility in 2005 that has grown to serve Auburn and surrounding homes and business. As a dedicated steward of its public utilities, the Auburn Common Council is moving forward to establish a Utility Service Board that will impartially govern Auburn Electric and Auburn Essential Services. This transition in governance is how the City continues to innovate and evolve with technology and the changing needs of the community, as well as ensure diversity in representation, safety and predictability for employees, reliability to rate payers, and long-term sustainability for future generations.
