Phillip D. Conrad, PA started preparing income taxes from his Garrett home in 1961. He slowly developed close, personal relationships with his clients that he viewed more as friends than customers. Phil served many local farmers and small businesses with their income tax, accounting, and payroll needs. After many years of using his home as an office, he moved into an office space on Cowen street in downtown Garrett. In 1983, David M. Hawkins, CPA partnered with Phil to form Conrad & Hawkins, PC. Together the firm expanded and continued to serve clients in Garrett, and grew to serve Northeast Indiana and the greater tri-state area.
In 2006, Matthew J. Cordes, EA came to join Conrad & Hawkins as an office manager and eventual owner. Matthew began ownership in 2009 with Cordes & Associates Financial Group, Inc. while Phil and Dave remained on staff. In 2013 Phil Conrad retired after 52 dedicated years of service to the community. Dave Hawkins retired in May of 2017 and now resides in Fishers, IN near his grandchildren.
Cordes & Associates seeks to continue the lauded history of Phillip D. Conrad, PA and David M. Hawkins, CPA by providing quality, timely, and personal service for individuals and businesses in the area.
