About
This House where Iannarelli's Italian Restaurant is located was built in 1845. To put things in perspective, that was just three years after a young Abraham Lincoln married Mary Todd, three years before the California gold rush and sixteen years before the Civil War. The original part of the building was of post and beam (hand hewn) construction and consisted only of the center portion. Rooms were later added onto the north, south and east sides. The windows were put together with wood pegs (windows have since been replaced) and the floor, which is tulip poplar, is original to the house. Because of some deterioration, the floor had to be taken up, replained and then put back down. A large livery barn was located behind the house and the small building which remains was the tack room and office for the livery stable.
