Family values. Family activities. That is what Chautauqua (SHUH-tah-kwah) is about. Based on the original Chautauqua Institution, founded in the town of the same name in southwestern New York State in 1874. Chautauqua-Wawasee is dedicated to the exploration of the best in human values and the enrichment of life through a program of events that explore the important religious, social and political issues of our times. We strive to stimulate provocative, and thoughtful involvement of individuals and families in creative response to such issues. In addition, Chautauqua promotes excellence and creativity in the appreciation, performance and teaching of the arts.
